anything under capitalism makes worlds worse .Ask the question who wrote the logical algorithm and what DATA it trained on . which is most likely a private company
Communism has a very, very bad track record as well. Socioeconomics done right is difficult. Corruption is the lowest in western European countries, which are capitalist. So, it’s not all clear cut as you make it seem. Many factors need to be in play to make a country fair and equal.
Russia was communist, it was a dystopian nightmare. Then they turned capitalist, but the nightmare continues.
A strong open democracy, an independent justice system, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, equal rights for all, privacy and a well balanced socioeconomic system create what we today label as a civilized society.
Albania tries to create a shortcut with AI, let’s see how that will play out.
There has never actually been a communist country in the world to this day. The word you’re missing is Socialism. And the Soviet Union was actually pretty good considering they started from a civil war, a mostly agrarian society, quickly developed their industry which made them win the second world war, defeating the nazi monster that the allies were crossing their fingers to destroy the USSR, and after that they emerged as a global economic super power leading the space race. From agrarian to the space in less than 30 years. Sure there were mistakes and crimes but the large majority of what is told about that subject is pure ideology a.k.a. lies and propaganda.
That’s a common perspective, but history tells a more complex story. Let’s break it down.
It was a communist state, implementing communist ideas. The Proletariat was a dictatorship, as Karl Marx envisioned it.
Tens of millions died to enforce the plans of a communist state. I wouldn’t call that “pretty good”.
This is false. The Soviet Union got 152 billion dollars (adjusted to today’s inflation) of aid from the allies. Which included over 400.000 jeeps/trucks, 11.400 aircraft, 7.000 tanks and millions tons of food. The Soviet Union has also acknowledged that without allied support they would’ve starved.
The Soviet Union was instrumental in that defeat. But did that result in freedom and prosperity for Eastern Europe? Instead of fascism, they got communism. Which was just the same thing with a different label. No personal freedoms, no freedom of speech, no democracy, no privacy, no independent justice system and the Soviets didn’t shy away from executing people or suppress resistance with deadly violence. Not to mention the resource abuse which caused millions of deaths due to starvation. The Soviet Union occupied Eastern Europe for half a century and it was an absolute nightmare. Even to this day that side of Europe is behind in development. The scars still show.
Yes. But at what social cost? Millions had to die in order to make that happen. And eventually the Soviet Union collapsed because it wasn’t able to sustain it.
In any case, this is a bit off topic. We can continue the discussion, but then I’ll probably will move this to a new thread.
