Shama’s Regenerative Transition

The Shama district in coastal Ghana, where the Pra River meets the Atlantic Ocean, is facing a convergence of ecological and economic pressures that are pushing communities toward a breaking point. Fish stocks are collapsing. Mangroves are disappearing. Plastic and mining pollution are entering the food chain. And women and youth, who anchor Shama’s post-harvest economy, are facing disproportionate consequences.
